It's a parody of Scott Pilgrim-Titmouse did backgrounds and animated (I got to help with that bit) and Warner Bros. did the compositing and designs. Check it out here. Thursday night, Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School hosted a life drawing session at Titmouse. I got to practice some costume drawing (as well as shoes-I always need practice with shoes). Palm Springs Pics

Thought I'd post some pics from the Palm Springs Shortfest (Barko's world premiere). It screened on Thursday, June 24th with a group of other animated shorts, and then again the following Monday with the Best of the Fest program. (I saw later on the website that based on audience vote, Barko was #3 out of 35 animated films)! Josh, his parents, and I had a great experience and a nice little vacation to boot. (Although it was 108 degrees. YOWZA). It was the first time I got to see Barko on the big screen which was pretty crazy. And the audience reacted really well! Laughing, awwwwing, gasping in all the right moments. Lots of other good films in the bunch as well. I have a soft spot for David OReilly's Please Say Something. Freakin genius! Afterwards, introverted me had to get up and do a Q&A with one other director that was there. Luckily the nerves went away once I was up there, and no one asked me anything impossible to answer. :) Thanks again Titmouse and all the Titmice helper peoples!

BARKO IS FINISHED!

So after a year and a half, I've finally finished my first short film, "Barko." It runs 7 minutes and is about a sad lil circus dog. I worked on it through Titmouse - they ask a couple employees to do their own personal films every year (or two) and give us some time to work during that year, help promote it, etcetc. Thanks to Chris and Shannon of Titmouse and all the great help I got on this from coworkers/friends/interns! And thanks to my man, Josh for dealing with me working all the time! I won't be posting the film online anytime soon since I'll be spending the year applying to festivals and I think Titmouse has other plans for the collection of films we create. But I'll try to keep this blog up to date on what festivals it might get into, posters, and a trailer I'll be making eventually. So you'll get a peak if you haven't seen it yet! Now I'm off to play video games! Weeeeee!!!

So just yesterday, Titmouse announced their new gaming department and posted the trailer to the first game we're working on, Seven Haunted Seas. I got to help animate on this amongst a super talented group of background artists, compositers, and designers. It got posted yesterday on a ton of video game sites and got some good comments. Helloooo again! I've been seeing a lot of nesquik billboards here around hollywood and they keep reminding me that i need to post the spots i worked on to this here bloggy thing. The top one has been airing on tv and the bottom one is a spot done solely for subways. If you haven't seen one of these before it's pretty cool. Imagine sitting on a subway train, facing the tunnel wall. On the wall is a looooooong stretch of still images lit from behind and as you move by them in the train, the animation plays. This one was taken in NYC but i think it's going to show up eventually in LA, DC, and Boston. I did the animation (flash) and Jan Naylor did cleanup (also flash). And yes, I drank chocolate milk while doing these, although I do miss the containers with the tin pop top lids.

So a couple friends from work and I decided to do some sculpey sculptures! Fun!! We're just getting started but I'm totally pumped about it. MAKE ME KEEP THIS ENERGY! I picked a pegasus for my subject since i like horsies and always held a fondness for She-Ra's pet.

So here is my own design. Oh-and I should explain. Pegasus are always white and pretty and I thought hey-it might be cool to do a pegasus that really looks like an everyday horse. And then I thought-hey! It might be even cooler to play off a western looking horse and make it a pinto.

So here's round one with the armature built. Looks like a lil rat doesn't it? And yes, we have a green kitchen table.

This is the type of horse I'm talking about for color ref. Except along with the brown/white pinto coloring, I'd like to glaze it with a sepia tone kind of look. Kinda weathered and western. Maybe stain the base.

And this is just pure inspiration. I'll keep you posted! Forgive me if my pegasus turns out looking like a chihuahua.

Howdy peoples! So the show I recently worked on at Titmouse has premiered on Playhouse Disney so I thought I'd post ya a link. Check it out! It was a very small group of us on it so I was able to do animation as well as some of the storyboards and backgrounds. Watch "I Will Be Your Friend" if ya have a moment; it's my personal fave. :) Oh and you can even rate the performances like american idol. Fun for preschool children everywhere! .....and me.

hallooooooo again. I'm ashamed. Let's just not talk about it ok? ok cool. On to the good stuff. I visited San Diego for the first time ever when my mom came to visit last week. The zoo was pretty freakin awesome. Saw a tapir get a shower, an okapi with some crazy spit, and a sea lion scare the crap out of a little girl. Of course...i caught none of these moments on paper, but did do some drawing nonetheless.

CALIFORNIA BABY!

AYE Errrbody! So I haven't blogged in a while because Josh and I have been in the midst of moving across the country. I got a job with Titmouse Inc. in Hollywood as an animator and so a couple weeks ago, we packed up our Boston pad and started the trek across America. For some reason I only got my camera out around Kansas...This place called Prairie Dog Town was just calling for pictures.

After Kansas, things got interesting. Er, not that Prairie Dog Town wasn't.

Utah's got some awesome weirdo landscapes.

TO MY EXTREME PLEASURE! We got to stay our third night at Bryce Canyon. Next day we spent a few hours hiking a trail and strolling through some shops. Crazy rock shops. Geods out the wazoo.

We stayed a mile up the road from Ruby's Inn, where my family and I camped at 12 years before. It was the weirdest feeling being back there.

Our drive through Zion. (About 45 minutes or so from Bryce). More awesome than i even remembered. The pictures don't live up! Just trust me! Go there!

So after a half day of hiking and driving for 3 .5 straight days, we were pretty freakin tired. So it turned out we'd hit ...well....VEGAS around 6 so we decided to stay the night there. What the hey, eh? Josh made out with 50 bucks and I lost seven. But man, it's a crazy place. Drinking cocktails on the street and watching pirates while strolling through venice all at the same time.

So we finally made it to LA after 4.5 days of driving. We stayed in an Extended Stay for 3 nights and then fell in love with the first apt we looked at. Here are a few pics of the 2 BD apt. we found in Burbank. IT HAS A DISHWASHER! HALLELUJAH!

Downtown Burbank. Lots of shops n restaurants, etc. Alas, no Chipotles around! But the freshly experienced In N Out should make up for it.

We've been reunited with our friend, Pete, from school. He helped us find a kickass couch. He also has an amazing sense of irony.

And finally, a first night out on the LA town. Pete's there too but sacrificed being in the picture to take it for us. :) Thanks Pete. SO FAR SO GOOD WITH CALI WOOO!
